What is ELF?

The Euless Library Foundation ("ELF") is an independent, non-profit organization of caring community members who give gifts of time, energy, ideas and financial support to the library and the community. Our missions is to enhance the visibility and growth of the Euless Public Library through the purchase of public are and the support of programs and projects that will enable the Library to become the cultural center of Euless.

What does ELF do?

ELF's first major project was the dedication of the current library building (opened in 1996) and the acquisition of the sculptures that welcome library visitors.

ELF's latest project was a unique sculptural form in blown glass that is suspended from the ceiling in the south bay window space of the Euless Public Library.  Titled Blooms of Enlightenment, the sculpture is visible from Airport Freeway both day and night.  David Keens, renowned artist and an Associate Professor who specializes and teaches classes in glass blowing at the University of Texas Arlington, constructed the sculpture using individually blown glass "rondels" that vary in size and colors that are complementary to the interior of the Euless Public Library.

A new project will be proposed to the Foundation membership and the community in Spring 2008.

Why is ELF important?

The success of the Euless Public Library depends greatly on its friends in the community. With just a few dollars or few hours, ELF helps make the library a vibrant place of learning, enjoyment, enlightenment and fun.

ELF was formed in 1995 to bring together public and private funding in support of the Euless Public Library and to generate permanent artwork for the library's state-of-the-art facility.

In addition to gifts of art, ELF supports the Summer Reading Program and other programs not covered by the Library's annual budget.

Everyone who enjoys the library and public art benefits from the work of ELF.
