The Euless Library Foundation (“ELF”)
was formed in
1995. Our mission is “enhance the visibility and growth of the Euless
Public Library through the purchase of public art and the support of
programs and projects that will enable the Library to become the
cultural center of Euless.”
Through the
years, we have presented the City and the Euless Public Library with
seven (7) works of art. Click here for more information about ELF.
In 2008, the
Euless Public Library is embarking on an expansion that will increase
the size of the library and add a room focused on historical
preservation. What better way to complement the Library’s emphasis on
history than by commissioning art that commemorates those people and
events that have made Euless what it is today.
Imagine a
unique reminder of Euless history for all who visit the Euless Public
Library.
Picture a
cherished work of public art that celebrates the pioneers who settled
Euless and helped make it the vibrant city it is today.
Picture an
individually designed wall of hand sculpted and painted tiles designed
to highlight animals and plants indigenous to Euless and to honor those
places and events that formed the cornerstone of this city—all to serve
as a source of inspiration for future generations.
You can help
turn those visions into reality by reserving your tile today or
indicating your interest in a tile. Each tile will commemorate places,
events or industries that were important parts of Euless’ past. The
mural will also include pictures of animals, plants, birds and other
flora and fauna indigenous to the Euless area. The completed mural will
be 6’ x 9’. Tiles range in size from a single “book spine” to 12”x 12”
picture tiles as depicted by the Himes Log House tile donated by the
Foundation.
